Euronews English and Euronews Spanish are now available on the Galaxy 19 platform.
Euronews is an international news channel. It offers content from a pan-European perspective to over 400 million households across 160 countries. While most viewers access FAST content through an internet connection, satellite is emerging as a crucial distribution method.
It ensures that even those without reliable broadband can access content. Intelsat’s G-19 platform serves broadcasters looking to extend their FAST channel distribution. It reaches an audience already accustomed to free content.
Global satellite player Intelsat has revealed a new satellite terminal strategy. It claims this will make it the first to offer global multi-orbit solutions for all relevant verticals by 2025. Intelsat currently offers multi-orbit solutions through its own geostationary satellites.
It also has a partnership with Eutelsat OneWeb for Low Earth Orbit satellites. The company is in the process of acquiring SES, which owns the O3b medium Earth orbit constellation. Intelsat has been providing multi-orbit terminals to the military and commercial airlines for the last couple of years.
It now plans to develop a new generation of terminals to leverage the growing demand. “Intelsat is making strategic bets on new technologies, including new investments in innovative terminal providers,” said CEO David Wajsgras. Intelsat has bought a minority stake in French satellite terminal player Greenerwave.
The two companies also signed an agreement to develop an Electronically Steered Array terminal. The new terminals will combine flexible beamforming, real-time reconfiguration, and low power consumption. They will be able to operate at half-duplex or full-duplex and will be smaller in size.
Intelsat said its new terminal strategy will enable it to deliver multi-orbit managed-service solutions. This includes commercial aviation, government, and mobility applications. The multi-orbit satellite boom has been driven by the growing demand for LEO satellite services.
Geostationary satellite players are responding partly by consolidation and partly by embracing multi-orbit strategies.
