A recent theft at Classic Charm Boutique, a local business in Oklahoma City, has resulted in several thousands of dollars worth of merchandise being stolen, according to its owner Brooke Donoley.
Donoley alleges that two women masterminded the theft by distracting employees and stealthily moving items into their bags. This incident occurred during a busy period in the store and the local authorities have begun their investigations based on the CCTV footage provided.
Donoley spotted something amiss when two customers left the fitting rooms with fewer items than they entered. While the store checks fitting rooms regularly for such incidents, these crafty thieves managed to outsmart the system.
On a hunch, Donoley inspected the fitting rooms. She found the hangers of the missing items hidden behind a chair.
Theft undermines Oklahoma boutique’s stability
Swiftly acting on her discovery, she relayed a detailed description of the culprits to local authorities.
“This theft is not just a crime against my store – it’s a violation of my personal livelihood,” Donoley explained. The owner is deeply upset about the incident, viewing it as an attack on the business she has built from scratch.
Furthermore, Donoley voiced her concern over the impact of this theft on the store’s employees, and their morale. The sense of safety and security in the store has been compromised, causing everyone to constantly feel on edge.
Donoley emphasized that theft from small businesses can be particularly damaging. They constitute a direct hit to the owner’s personal funds and can destabilize a company’s fiscal stability, possibly leading to its eventual downfall.
She offered the culprits a chance to return the stolen goods. If the stolen merchandise isn’t returned, she has pledged to press charges.
In response to this incident, Donoley is now implementing stricter loss prevention measures and urging other business owners to do the same as a way to avoid potential thefts in the future.
