Nevada reported gaming win rose 8.5% year-over-year in February to $1.34B, according to the Gaming Control Board. As anticipated, Las Vegas Strip casinos led the charge with a 12.4% pop in gaming win for the month to $800.7M as Super Bowl traffic clearly boosted results. Gaming win was up 2.7% for downtown Las Vegas casinos and jumped 10.1% for Reno casinos. The statewide gaming win tally was the highest ever for the month of February and was the 5th best month of all-time.
Table, counter, and card games generated gaming win of $514.6M, which was up 24.2% from a year ago. Baccarat gaming win soared 76% as the Chinese New Year brought in more high rollers from Asia. A strong hold rate of 14.2% was seen across table games during the month. Meanwhile, slot machine gaming win was up 0.6% to $827.6M off a hold rate of 7.0%.
Nevada Gaming Control Board Senior Economic Analyst Michael Lawton noted the Super Bowl created extremely supportive tailwinds for gaming activity in Nevada and the Las Vegas Strip. Of note, the month had 29 days this year to give casinos an extra day of gambling action in comparison to the prior three years. The gaming win numbers do not include hotel room revenue and ancillary resort revenue for the month, which by some estimates were up a double-digit percentage.
