Anthem, now known as Elevance (NYSE:ELV), and Cigna’s (NYSE:CI) Express Scripts unit have reportedly settled the last pending claim in a long-running case that had Anthem suing for $14.8B in damages over alleged breach of contract.
Anthem filed the suit in 2016, alleging that Express Scripts had failed to negotiate drug prices in good faith. A federal judge dismissed Anthem’s central claim earlier this year, but allowed the case to proceed on other claims, according to Reuters.
Reuters added that settlement of the last claim would allow a final judgment to be entered for the case, which would then allow Anthem to appeal the federal court ruling.
Anthem changed its name to Elevance Health last year.
