In the U.S. on Thursday, all three major indexes ended higher. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.58% to end at 14,138.57 points, its first close above the 14,100 mark since April 5, 2022. The benchmark S&P 500 rose 0.85% to close at 4,509.97 points, while the Dow underperformed the other two averages with a 0.14% gain, finishing at 34,394.29 points.
The soft PPI numbers come a day after the closely watched consumer price index (CPI) came in cooler than anticipated.
Traders are now focusing on quarterly results from major banks on Friday, including bellwether JPMorgan (JPM).

Oil prices rose on Friday on tighter supply, lower U.S. inflation.
Brent crude futures rose 27 cents, or 0.3%, to $81.63 per barrel at 0028 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 35 cents, or 0.5%, to $77.24.
Gold prices were set on Friday for best week since April on dollar drop.
Spot gold was little changed at $1,959.81 per ounce by 0504 GMT, and up 1.9% for the week. U.S. gold futures were flat at $1,964.00. Spot silver fell 0.2% to $24.8091 per ounce, but was set for its biggest weekly gain since March.
Meanwhile, Platinum shed 0.4% to $969.08 and palladium dropped 1.1% to $1,280.62, but were poised for a second straight weekly rise.
