Great Lakes Dredge & Dock (NASDAQ:GLDD) said Monday it received notice to proceed to perform essential improvements to the Brownsville Ship Channel for NextDecade’s (NEXT) Rio Grande LNG project.
The work includes deepening the entrance channel to the western end of the Rio Grande LNG property, as well as the development of two ship berths and turning basin for the facility.
The project – Great Lakes’ (GLDD) largest ever – will enhance commercial navigation into and out of the Port of Brownsville and ensure the safe and reliable access of liquefied natural gas carriers to the Rio Grande LNG facility, the company said.
Great Lakes (GLDD) said it expects to start the project later this year.
