Meta Platforms (META) is reportedly getting ready to lay off employees in the silicon unit of its Reality Labs division, as soon as tomorrow, Reuters reported.
The U.S. tech giant is likely to let the employees go after they were informed via a post on the company’s internal discussion forum, known as Workplace, the news outlet added.
Meta (META) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
In May, it was Meta Platforms reportedly wrapping up spring layoffs, deepest in tech (NASDAQ:META) that Meta had launched the last round of a three-round set of layoffs it announced in March.
Last fall, Meta (META) let go 11,000 employees, which Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said at the time he was accountable for. This past March, the Faxebook parent company unveiled a second major round of layoffs that would eliminate another 10,000 positions.
Zuckerberg has repeatedly called 2023 a “year of efficiency” as the company looks to cut costs and align them better with the company’s long-term plans.
Meta shares fell 1.6% on Tuesday amid a broader decline in the market, but have gained more than 140% year-to-date.
