Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) is expected to announce a deal to acquire EV route planning service A Better Route Planner for an undetermined amount.
Sources told Electrek the transaction for the Swedish-based ABRP may have already closed.
ABRP describes itself as a the world’s most popular consumer EV route planner for both beginner and experienced drivers. ABRP is free to use for drivers and has a premium membership to get access to advanced features such as CarPlay, live traffic, and real-time charger data.
Electrek noted that Rivian Automotive (RIVN) currently works with Mapbox for its mapping engine. The expectation is that engine would not be supplanted, but integrated with ABRP data.
Shares of Rivian Automotive (RIVN) moved up 0.33% premarket to $15.29 vs. the 52-week trading range of $11.68 to $40.86.
