Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has issued a recall on more than 1.62M vehicles, including its models S, X, 3 and Y electric vehicles exported to China, the market regulator said on Friday.
The affected units have problems with their automatic assisted steering and door latch controls that can increase the risk of accidents, said China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement.
The recall due to problems with the automatic steering assist function applies to 1.61M imported Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Ys. Meanwhile, the door latch issue applies to 7,538 units of Models S and X EVs made between Oct. 26, 2022 and Nov. 16, 2023.
The recalls in Tesla’s (TSLA) second largest market follow a recall in the U.S. last month that impacted over 2M units.
Tesla Motors in Beijing and Shanghai would use remote upgrades to fix the problems.
Shares of the EV maker were down 0.92% premarket on Friday
