ContextLogic’s (NASDAQ:WISH) Wish app is now available again in France after being delisted due to concerns about its products.
The platform had been banned while its app had been ordered removed from Google Play and the Apple App Store by the government due to violations of consumer protection rules. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire noted that the measures were “exceptional and exemplary” in nature given the breaches of consumer protections in products offered by Wish.
“These players flout the regulations on product safety and it is unacceptable. We fight daily in France and at European level to apply the same rules in physical shops and online shops,” he said in November 2021. “This will also be one of our priorities when of the French presidency of the European Union: protecting European consumers and enforcing economic order by the major e-commerce platforms.”
According to Politico, these restrictions were lifted on Monday after lengthy deliberation with the French General Directorate for Consumer Affairs, Competition and Fraud Prevention over the past year.
Shares of ContextLogic (WISH) rose 4.17% shortly after Tuesday’s market open.
