Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 2.58% or 70.00 points to trade at 2,787.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO:) added 1.94% or 1,530.00 points to end at 80,530.00 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 1.80% or 10.00 points to 567.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JGC Corp. (TYO:), which fell 1.99% or 34.00 points to trade at 1,678.00 at the close. Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (TYO:) declined 1.75% or 72.00 points to end at 4,031.00 and Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:) was down 1.70% or 120.00 points to 6,940.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2153 to 1404 and 258 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.36% to 19.51.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.59% or 0.46 to $78.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.65% or 0.54 to hit $84.00 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.55 to trade at $1,825.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.36% to 132.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.54% to 141.03.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 103.84.
