At Mintel, giving back to the communities where we live and work is an integral part of our culture. We believe everyone has a role to play in caring for one another and the planet, whether by making monetary contributions or volunteering in the community.
Through Mintel Gives, we drive various community engagement projects focusing on social equality, the environment, mentorship and education by bringing together individuals from our global offices who care about the world around them and desire to positively affect our communities at large. Additionally, we encourage employees to support organisations that matter to them by giving them two days of additional paid time off for volunteering.
In 2022, we partnered with 71 non-profit organisations worldwide, organised multiple fundraisers for health awareness, cycled for crisis victims, offered internship and mentoring opportunities with local schools and many more community engagement projects. Mintel also participated in various monetary donation matching initiatives to amplify our employees’ positive impact in our local and global communities.
We raised a whopping $34,000 via various in-house fundraisers to support the British – Ukrainian Aid, including a cycling initiative where nine brave/crazy Mintellians cycled 375 kms from London to Paris over the course of three days.
Aligned with our aim to support mentorship and education programs, this year, we onboarded two high school interns from the Epic Academy in Chicago for six weeks under Mintel’s summer internship program, exposing our youth to corporate life and future opportunities. Additionally, 15 Mintel employees from China supported the Stepping Stones, a not-for-profit organisation in Shanghai, by participating in their virtual teaching programme for disadvantaged children spread over 12 weeks.
Keeping up with the volunteering spirit, 88 employees from our Asia team donated time and money towards the Days for Girls foundation that supports menstrual equity, health, dignity and opportunity for women and girls.
Seventeen employees from our German office took part in a tree plantation drive in the Siegerland Forest and planted 1000 trees, while four employees from the team participated in the annual Charity Rowing Regatta event to support the NRW Cancer Society in Germany.
Caring for the environment is something we continually work towards, and this year was no different; we collected 83 kgs of waste during the annual beach clean initiative at the UK’s Margate Beach, in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society. And 23 kg of trash was collected from the Chicago River via the Canoe and Clean Project with Friends of Chicago River.
We also took part in helping food grow by adopting a community garden (Maxell Street Garden) located on the near west side of Chicago.
Finally, to culminate the year and celebrate the festive holiday season, we have launched the #MintelGivesHope campaign in the Americas to support One Hope United, a multi-state nonprofit organisation that helps children and families build the skills to live life without limits.
