The Oldest Car Models Still for Sale in the U.S.

As time passes, new cars get released while older ones get discontinued. But some vehicles find a way to persist for a very long time, even decades. If the vehicles keep selling and the customers are satisfied, automakers will do what they can to keep them in the lineup. Here are the oldest models that can be bought brand-new in the United States.

Ford Mustang — 1963

The Mustang is currently in its 6th generation and is still powered by its signature V8 engine. The stick shift option is still available for those who want the classic Mustang experience behind the wheel.

Porsche 911 — 1963

The Porsche 911 has prioritized sharp handling and sleek styling since its inception. After 63 years, the 911 is still among the best that drivers can buy.

Chevrolet Corvette — 1953

The Corvette is one of the most important vehicles in American car culture. After several decades of improvements, they are now some of the most powerful vehicles you can buy and greatly outperform their price tag.

Toyota Corolla — 1966

2026 is the 60-year anniversary of the Toyota Corolla. The car was introduced in 1966 and brought to the U.S. in 1968. It has always been a staple of affordability and reliability.

Toyota Land Cruiser — 1951

The Land Cruiser was first sold in the U.S. from 1958 before its discontinuation in 2021. After making a comeback in 2024, the off-roading cruiser plans to keep the lineage alive.

Ford F-Series — 1948

The best-selling car in the United States has been with us for a long time. The original Ford F-1 pickup truck that came out in 1948 was popular back then and nothing has changed in the current day.

Chevrolet Suburban — 1935

The original Chevrolet Suburban Carryall was released in 1935 and was a predecessor of the first SUV. The name was shortened to just Suburban and the nameplate is still around today while also being shared with GMC. For every year the Suburban sticks around, they seem to take up more space on the road.

Rolls-Royce Phantom — 1925

The oldest and most expensive vehicle by far on this list. The Phantom I was first released in 1925 and has been the king of luxury cars for over 100 years. The Phantom has taken a few hiatuses over the last century but always finds a way back into the British automaker’s lineup.
