FSLR|EPS $3.92 vs $2.89 est (+35.6%)|Rev $1.06B|Net Income $422.6M

First Solar, Inc. reported second-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, with diluted earnings reaching $3.92 per share and beating the consensus estimate of $2.89 by 35.6%. The solar technology company, which provides photovoltaic energy solutions across the United States, France, India, Chile, and other international markets, posted net income of $422.6M for the quarter. Earnings climbed 23.3% from the $3.18 per share recorded in the year-ago period.

Revenue for the quarter totaled $1.06B, representing a 4.0% decrease from the $1.10B recorded in Q2 2025. Despite the modest revenue decline, the company’s bottom-line performance demonstrated strong margin expansion as it continues to navigate a competitive global solar market. The Tempe, Arizona-based manufacturer maintained a robust contracted sales backlog of 45.1 GW at quarter end, underscoring continued demand for its thin-film solar modules.

The earnings beat comes as First Solar continues executing on its production expansion strategy amid evolving policy dynamics in the renewable energy sector. Wall Street maintains a largely positive outlook on the stock, with analyst consensus standing at 24 buy ratings, 15 hold ratings, and just 1 sell rating. The company’s ability to deliver strong profitability even as revenue softened year-over-year highlights operational discipline in managing production costs and project execution.

A detailed analysis of First Solar, Inc.’s quarter follows shortly on AlphaStreet.
